This momentous initiative celebrates the enduring legacy of Dr. Roderick Paige—a visionary educator, Mississippi native, Jackson State University alumnus, and former Superintendent of Houston Independent School District and Dean of the College of Education at Texas Southern University. As the first African American U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Paige’s leadership reshaped national education policy and inspired generations of students and educators.
This scholarship stands as a tribute to his lifelong dedication to educational excellence, equity, and opportunity. It is designed to uplift and empower the next generation of educators who will carry forward his mission at Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation.
